Calendar Change/Free Lunches Nov. 1
In the spirit of being proactive, we have decided to make a change to our calendar. Friday, November 13 will be changed to a Remote Planning Day. Students will not be in attendance that day at all. We plan to use this day to prepare for any potential remote learning that may occur as well as cover some other items that would have taken place during our school improvement day.
Also, as of November 1, we have now qualified for free lunches. The program qualifications must have changed even when we didn’t distribute any lunches to students in the spring and summer. Hollis School has now qualified for the summer food service program (SFSP) and will do so until the end of the school year. As a result of the ongoing COVID pandemic, all children regardless of income can receive free meals, simplified meal counting, fewer administrative tasks, and higher rates of reimbursement.
SFSP will provide: 1) more reimbursement to the district per meal and 2) will have an easier meal pattern to follow which may translate into lower food cost.
For those of you who have lunch balances, we will be in touch with how your balance will be handled after November 1.
