Letter to Community 8/31
Tuesday, August 31, 2021
Dear Hollis Staff, Students, Parents, and Community,
Early this morning, our school was contacted by the Peoria County Sheriff’s Department that we had a safety threat in an area close to our school. We immediately followed our Crisis Plan and took the necessary safety precautions. Our staff responded quickly and professionally. The Peoria County Sheriff’s Department took action, defused the situation, and informed us that we were safe from harm. We continued normal school activities and operations within an hour. I wanted to inform you of this morning’s incident in case your son or daughter comes home with questions. We take the safety of our students as a number one priority at Hollis. If students don’t feel safe, they cannot learn. We will continue to train and practice school safety and update our Crisis Plan each year. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Chad Jones
Superintendent
