Pool Renovation Study
As the Hollis Board considers the different options for renovating the existing pool space, the Board wants to share information that been developed to date and some of the frequently asked questions that have been asked during the process. This includes questions that were asked at the September 16, 2024 Town Hall Meeting the Board hosted in the Hollis Auditorium.
What are the options the Board is considering for the renovation of the pool room?

Option 1 – Renovate Pool + New Lockers Rooms
- Renovation of existing structure, exterior envelope and glazing, and finishes
- Replacement of Mechanical Equipment
- Bringing the pool into compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health Pool Code
- Rebuilding locker rooms as required by code
- Adding new entry and accessible route through cafeteria
REMODELED AREA: 5200 SF
APPROX. AREA OF NEW CONSTRUCTION: 3000 SF
RECOMMENDED BUDGET: $4,300,000
Option 2 – Add Needed Classroom Space
- Renovation of existing structure, exterior envelope and glazing, and finishes
- Infill pool area
- New construction to add pre-k classroom, STEM Classroom, accessible restroom facilities, and a large storage area that could become a future classroom

APPROX. AREA OF NEW CONSTRUCTION: 600 SF
RECOMMENDED BUDGET: $2,500,000
Option 3 – Multipurpose Room
- Renovation of existing structure, exterior envelope and glazing, and finishes
- Infill pool
- New construction to add accessible restroom facilities, a multipurpose room, and a large storage area
- Reinstall overhead outside door access
- Adding new entry and accessible route through cafeteria
REMODELED AREA: 5500 SF
APPROX. AREA OF NEW CONSTRUCTION: 600 SF
RECOMMENDED BUDGET: $2,150,000
Option 4 – No Work
- Leave room as is and determine path forward later.
- Currently, the room is being used as storage for maintenance and PE. With no definite change in the future, it will likely continue to be used as such until the Board continues the next plan of action.
