Safety Update 11/20/25
November 20, 2025
Dear Parents,
Earlier today, we were notified that a registered sex offender was arrested yesterday on George Street in Peoria. The social media post from Sheriff Watkins referenced this person has been known to hang out in Hollis Park and also in Bradley Park. The Peoria County Sheriff’s Department has assured us that there is no active cause for concern and that the person is currently in custody.
We were also made aware of an incident that occurred at a Monroe bus stop earlier this morning. A Monroe student reported that an unknown individual in a light gray truck approached him and asked him to get in the vehicle. This occurred in the area of Dirksen Parkway/Frontier Estates.
While neither of these involve our school directly, news like this understandably causes concern. Incidents like this serve as strong reminders to be aware of public surroundings, to be alert, and to be vigilant in reporting things that feel out of place. If something seems suspicious, please report it. We will always prefer to err on the side of caution when it comes to the safety and well-being of our students and staff.
Here at school, we will continue to maintain all existing safety protocols including visitor check in procedures and secured entry points. We will continue to work with local law enforcement to stay informed on any incidents that may impact our school and community. At this time, trips to the park for PE and other learning activities will be stopped. At home, please remind students to be cautious on social media and consider reviewing apps and their privacy settings. Remind students that they should never share personal information with anyone online, and encourage them to report anything that makes them uncomfortable.
Thank you for your continued help in providing a safe environment for everyone at Hollis. We will keep you updated with any additional information if it becomes available.
