Dear Hollis Community,
I apologize for the late notice of this communication tonight. Earlier today, the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR) voted against extending the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) emergency rule on school mask mandates. In light of this development, our district is highly recommending students and staff continue wearing masks in alignment with guidance from the Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC); however, masks will no longer be required regardless of vaccination status.
Over the next few days, we will be revisiting our Re-Opening Plan that was approved by the Hollis School Board in August. At this time, it is our intent to present a revised plan to the BOE at the next meeting on Tuesday night. We will determine how this change in procedure will affect our day to day operations at Hollis.
This change in masks being recommended and not required is effective tomorrow morning, Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
I realize this decision will please some and disappoint others. I appreciate all of the feedback that we have received in our survey.
Thank you for your continued support of Hollis School.
Sincerely,
Chad Jones
Superintendent
