September 9, 2022 Dear Hollis Families, We are continually assessing our safety protocols at Hollis. In an attempt to minimize traffic to the back of the building, the back north parking lot will no longer be open during school hours. Effective on Monday, September 12, the back parking lot will be closed during the school day from approximately 8:15 - 3:00. Closing the drive during these hours will keep cars off of the blacktop during school hours and will minimize the use of the ramp and Latchkey doors. Both of these outcomes will increase safety for students and staff. We realize there will be an adjustment period for all. With the back parking lot closed during the day, parents will not be able to use the back door to pick up students early for appointments or drop them off in the back when they return. If your child does have an appointment during the school day or needs to arrive or return during the school hours, please use the doorbell at the front door to contact the office. If your child has a late afternoon appointment (2:45 or later), and you are concerned about getting stuck in the after school traffic line, please contact the office. We do not believe this change will create any issues for our families who use Latchkey before and after school. We appreciate your patience as we make this change, and we appreciate your support as we work to continually improve on keeping everyone safe.
